Ingredients

  • 4 standard corn on the cobs
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 large pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 300 mls water

Instructions

  • Place the pinch of salt into the olive oil and brush all over the corn with a pastry brush or whatever you have that'll do the job.
  • Put the sweetcorn into the slow cooker and tip in the 300 mls of water.
  • Cook on High for 2-3 hours on High or Low 4-6 hours. The sweetcorn will be gloriously bright yellow when cooked.
  • Brush with the butter and serve for the most amazing side. Who doesn't love buttery fresh corn?

Notes

  • This is a fabulous recipe for BBQs and the pot can be used to deliver the corn to your outside table
  • If you buy the smaller cobs then reduce the cooking time slightly. I would start to check half an hour earlier
  • Corn on the cob is cooked when the corn becomes bright yellow and plumps up and is tender when poked with the tip of a sharp knife.
  • Use different flavoured butters to suit your meal. Garlic butter would be delicious or coriander & lime etc
