Slow Cooker White Hot Chocolate is incredibly delicious and super easy in the slow cooker. It's a perfect way to feed a crowd and keep your hot chocolate warm on chilly days and nights. I mean what seriously could be better or easier.

Whether it's for a chilly evening or a festive get together this fun recipe is a big crowd pleaser and my children's absolute favourite. Creamy, luxurious and sweet. A special treat and a real memory maker of a recipe.

I've made this a big batch for 8 because I tend to mostly do this when I have people coming round but simply halve for a smaller chocolatey affair.

Ingredients

white chocolate, milk, cream and mini marshmallows and vanilla extract all labelled with black text

400 mls - double cream  (heavy/whipping cream)

1 litre milk - semi skimmed (reduced fat or whole)

400 grams cooking white chocolate. Cooking chocolate is best because it melts easier and smoother. You can use chocolate chips too.

1 tbsp vanilla extract

Method

  • Simply break your chocolate up into squares and put them into your pot.

  • Pour in the cream, milk and vanilla extract.

  • Cook on High for 2 and a half hours or 3-4 hours on Low. Stir every 30 minutes. Leave on Low to keep the hot chocolate warm.
  • Top with whatever toppings you fancy. My family love the classic, whipped cream, mini marshmallows and heavy on the chocolate sauce.

Variations

I love to set up a hot chocolate station for everybody with additions and toppings for everyone to help themselves. It's as fabulous as it sounds.

Add the following to taste

  • Nutella
  • Biscoff
  • Baileys (alcoholic so best to add just before serving to the people that want an alcoholic version )
  • Orange extract
  • Peppermint extract (small amount) and serve with candy canes...squeal!
  • Kahlua (alcoholic so best to add just before serving to only the people that want an alcoholic version ) Virtual hand up...
  • Peanut Butter
  • Tahini

Toppings

I love my job.

blank
  • caramel sauce
  • chocolate sauce
  • various sprinkles
  • crushed candy canes
  • ginger syrup
  • chocolate shavings
  • chocolate chips
  • fudge chunks
  • orange zest
  • maltesers/crumbled flake bars/crushed kit kats/after eights/

Top Tips

To make this a vegan hot chocolate then use vegan chocolate and milk. I've made this a big batch for 8 because I tend to mostly do this when I have people coming round but simply halve for a smaller chocolatey affair.

Vegan cream is not the easiest to heat so probably better to stick with just the milk. It will not be so creamy and velvety as this dairy version.

Store leftovers in the fridge covered.

To reheat after being in the fridge reheat in a saucepan over a low heat or back in the slow cooker. Stir well as the chocolate tends to come to the surface and separate again.

You can totally make this recipe on the hob. Simply heat through over a gentle heat stirring frequently until the chocolate is melted and the whole mixture is hot enough.

To make the chocolate frothy then whip it well just before serving in the slow cooker pot. You can buy battery operated little whiskers which are great.
